BABY YORS UNVEILS “FORTUNA” – A FIRST-OF-ITS-KIND MUSIC VIDEO PUSHING THE BOUNDARIES OF TECHNOLOGY AND ART
A Groundbreaking Visual Experience Blending AI, Robotics, and Hyper-Digital Aesthetics with Argentine Cumbia
Los Angeles, California, December 16th, 2024 — Musician and multimedia artist Baby Yors announces the release of the music video for “Red River Maria,” an epic anthem now accompanied by a visually stunning dance video that mirrors its energetic and distinctive sound.
Directed and edited by Baby Yors (Marco Palou), the music video features choreography by Japanese artist Ami Takahashi and was filmed at an abandoned military base in California, with cinematography by the renowned Thor Wixom.
Written and co-produced by Baby Yors and Bram Inscore, “Red River Maria”—the opening track of the album AMERICANO—blends English and Spanish to bring a long-held dream to life. Baby Yors recalls, “In my dream, thousands of naked people slept on an empty highway, and in the distance, a red truck approached them.” While the dream ended unresolved, the striking imagery lingered in his mind. Unable to film this ambitious scene at the time due to production constraints, Baby turned it into a song.
The red river symbolizes what the highway would become if the truck passed through it, while Maria represents a universal identity. “Maria is everyone. It’s a beautiful, popular name with religious connotations, and it also personifies America—much like I did with Penelope, the third track on AMERICANO,” Baby explains.
The song serves as a metaphor for America—a country of immense wealth, resources, and potential, yet one that sometimes feels like it keeps its people “asleep.” Baby reflects, “The biggest highway in the world has people sleeping on it. Sure, this is a critique, but it comes from a place of love. This is the country I’ve chosen to live in, and I believe it to be the best. It isn’t perfect, but it’s great, and with some work, it could be even better. I want people to be happy in America.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
“FORTUNA” is included in Baby Yors’ second album, AMERICANO, and follows the videos for “Red River Maria” and “Last Cigarette”.
AMERICANO is filled with bops in both English and Spanish, and it talks about his experience as an immigrant in the United States. The album intertwines themes of love, criticism, hope and passion, all inside a potent collection of songs that flirt with latin rhythms, catchy pop anthems, and a rock soul that embodies Baby Yors’ unique perspective and voice.
The inspiration behind his album AMERICANO was Baby Yors’ unique immigrant experience. He moved to New York City in his late teens from a town in the north of Argentina called Jujuy. The first years in the US were about surviving, then it became about feeling part of the culture, and then it began to change into generating connections. “I have always sang, directed videos, danced, acted and painted. I studied a lot, but then I realized that I needed to spend as much energy unlearning what I had.”
The album was produced in a period of two years by Baby Yors with his long-time collaborator Bram Inscore (Producer for Beck, Rina Sawayama, Troye Sivan and BTS), and engineer by Phil Raskin.
Baby and Bram began working on the first single “Nada Mas Americano” in 2021, and after its success upon release in 2023, they decided to complete a whole album together. They finished eight tracks for AMERICANO, and were working on at least a dozen more, when Bram tragically passed away. As a way to honor him, Baby Yors is completing some of the unfinished songs, to be included in a Deluxe version of AMERICANO later this year.
“We worked nearly every day for months, both remotely and in person. I had found a true collaborator, a one of a kind musician and human that understood what I was trying to do. He was so special and unique, I can’t even quite put it into words. I will always hear him through the music we made. I am lucky to have met him,” said Baby Yors about Bram Inscore.
